Hi, this is my first post so hopefully I'm doing this right!

I have the last of the MacBook Pro's before they got rid of all the ports and added just USB C.

This was great at first because I could still connect to everything whilst others had dongles.... however now times have changed!

A lot of things are now natively USB C (including the workstations at my work) and I now find myself unable to connect to a lot of things.

I have tried looking for dongles and adapters that turn USB C connections into other things such as mini displayport, but they don't seem to! Everything seems to be turning USB C into something else!

Can anyone help please!

And a million others if you search up 'USB Type C Mini Displayport'.

These adapter rely on the Displayport alt mode of USB Type C ports, so be sure to check the type C port is either:

- Thunderbolt

- Has a little Displayport logo next to it

So your monitor has USB type C and you need to connect mini-displayport to it?

Then just get a uni/bi-directional cable/adapter, like this:

If you don't have 'normal' DP and only mini-DP, get a simply mini-DP to DP adapter.

  • 1 month later...

@owenmorgan07 - I too am after what you describe sir.

I have a Surface Pro 4 which has a Female Mini Displayport, I also have a USB-C hub which connects to a bunch of peripherals, a set up that works sweet for the wife and her work laptop but obviously not for my Surface.

Ideally I'm after a Surface Power Supply Connector, Male USB and Male Display port to female USB-C with pass through etc... But I also want Brexit to be cancelled and to win the lottery, so one out three would be lovely thanks!
