Hello everyone, i hope you all having a great one. Like the title said, i have 2 burning questions that i wanted to ask in this thread. Currently, due to being a student and financial difficulty, i was only able to afford a mid tier gaming laptop, acer nitro 5 with gtx 1060 and i7-8750H. So my question is, do you guys know what type of HDMI connection does my laptop support? And should i buy a separate monitor to accompany my rig? if so can i archive at least 60hz-100hz at 1080p with my HDMI connection, assuming that the monitor support it ( free sync and g-sync are not important for me yet due to me have never experienced it before so i wouldn't be able to tell) ? My specific model of the laptop is Acer nitro 5 AN515-52 for those who wanted to know. Also, like i said earlier, I am currently having financial difficulty so my monitor choices are also limited, my budget is maybe 190-250 AUD tops, hence if u guys have any recommendation, please help me out. ( i have never escaped the 60hz realm before lol, also im in Australia) Thank you very much guys:)) really appreciate your replies:)))

Here is my DxDiag result, please help me out. and once again, thank you for your time and efforts.

Any reason why you wouldn't use your laptop's display? If you are currently in a difficult financial situation it would be best to save as much money as possible instead of spend it on a monitor. I've been using my laptop's screen for almost everything for these past 4 years part from the occasional time I used a different computer.

well its because 24 inch display is a bit small imo. Plus, due to the nature of my 'unsual' set ups and circumstances, i need a second monitor ( main one, laptop's monitor will turn into secondary monitor) to enhance my workflow ( not gaming, actual work. I thought about this already, but thank you for your reply, that's very thoughtful of you:)) with that being said do you have any other suggestions? thank you for your time again:)))

Do you want a high refresh rate display or would you not mind something that is 60hz but good for work and gaming?

i want something with high refresh rate, around 100-144 is the goal. I wouldn't mind if its 1080p. I am worried tho however whether or not if my laptop's HDMI port can output that much fps. the general purpose of this monitor is gaming but when i work, it would also be easy to setup and work with along side my laptop monitor. thanks:)
