[Help} Xbox one X DHCP issues on unmanaged switch

Issues with Xbox one X on network switch 

 

I am going to include as many details as possible to rule out any unnecessary steps. I have a network switch that is unmanaged, it has 8 ports. In this switch I have 2 xbox one’s (my xbox is an xbox one x, my girlfriends is an xbox one s), a pc, a Mac, a smartTV, and an Apple TV. There are two more devices plugged into this switch, one of which is a router that only wireless devices (phones, tablets, smart tv in the bedroom) are connected into, the rest of the devices in the house are hard wired. The other device plugged into this switch is my fiber modem. The modem is not broadcasting any kind of wireless signal and otherwise is just connecting the rest of the home to the internet through either the switch or the router. 

None of my devices plugged into the switch has any connectivity issues and regularly get 900mbs down and 300mbs up, but my xbox one X will not cooperate. It regularly says that it cannot connect to my DHCP network. My xbox one network settings are all on automatic and have never been set to anything definite such as a static IP address. Before i had fiber, i would have double nat and connectivity issues with my xbox one x when hard wired on the same switch. My girlfriends xbox has no issues connecting, nothing else on the switch has issues connecting, but my xbox one x refuses to connect when plugged into the switch. The only way to connect it to the internet is to set up a wireless connection to the router...which is plugged into the switch and then the xbox has no issues. I have of course restarted everything that is involved in this internet chain and need to know what i need to do or what information i need to provide for anyone to assist me better. I am willing to post diagrams, and do whatever it takes just so i can play multiplayer on the expensive connection i paid for.

My first question is why the router and modem are connected to the switch instead of modem > router > switch unless by router you just mean access point.

Try a different cable?  Try connecting directly to a different port?  Does it work if you're connected directly to the modem?  I remember having this issue on my PS4 a few years ago. It kinda just solved itself after a couple restarts.

I should have clarified. The router is being used more like an access point than an actual router. Due to restrictions in my home my fiber connection must be in the office of my home, so the modem is there as well. The router is placed in my living room so several of my wireless devices would have the best signal. My office also has the most electronics in it needing a wired connection so all of those devices are wired into the switch and the router is also connected to the switch since my modem only has one Ethernet out on it, which is going from the modem to the switch.

I think some clarification is still needed - the "Fibre modem" - can you list the make and specific model number of it? Is the "modem" running a DHCP server?

 

In terms of the Router (which you are using as an Access Point) - what port on the router is plugged into the switch? The WAN port? Or one of the switching ports (Typically 1-4 on a regular router)? If the latter, is anything plugged into the WAN port at all?

 

Additionally, did you disable DHCP on the router?
