I recently upgraded from my good 'ol 970 to a brand new RX 5700, but whenever I connect my 1440p display via displayport the top part starts flickering like crazy (when connected via HDMI it works fine). I've tried the same cable and the same port with my 970 and it works fine.

The weird part is that my second monitor is connected via displayport and it works fine, tried swapping the cables but the result is the same. One works and the other one doesn't. Could this be some weird software glitch or should I send the card back because it may be a hardware defect?

Here you can see the visual garbage.

Thank you for your time, have a lovely day, fellas!

is there a reason you cant use the hdmi cable then?

I need a 3rd display for work and I've been using a TV that only has an HDMI port. If it's populated by my monitor I'm screwed. I may get a DP to HDMI adapter and see if everything works fine, but knowing that the card may be defective makes me feel kind of uneasy.

thanks for the reply!

Do you have spare different Displayport cable?

Sometimes it's just the cable which fkdup for whatever reason.

I experienced a black blank display when I upgraded my GPU and use the same Displayport cable from the previous GPU, after I get a different Displayport cable it's fixed just like that.

I've swapped them between displays and the result is the same, the 1080p one works with both and the 1440p doesn't work.

Thanks for you reply, bud!

I would just try to get different displayport cable from different brand to confirm it's the cable or not. Because I did that and it fixed the issue.

I have 2 displayport cables, the old one works on my old GPU but fkdup on my newer GPU, and the other displayport cable works on both GPUs.

It seems weird and doesn't make sense, but that what I faced.

This Vention DP cable is the fkedup one
