Pumps dead. Be glad it still pumps water presumably, usually when they die or the bearing fails or whatever they just stop pumping and then you slow roast your cpu.

Youre gonna need a new cooler. There really isn’t a fix for this besides basically rebuilding it with a new pump but that will cost more than a new cooler.

I suggest a BeQuiet pure rock or arctic freezer 34 for air, or a Corsair hydro H60 or cooler master master liquid 120L for a new 120mm AIO.

i just the pc upside down and it doesnt happen anymore. im unsure what the problem is

  • 1 month later...

I have two types of "grinding" noise on my H110, one is the one you are having, the second one sounds like scarping.

What I did to "fix" the problem you are having was plugging the pump power onto mb pwm vs just 12v power, not sure if this is the case for you but just a suggestion :)

Sounds like a grinding pump but if an air bubble makes it into the pump head where the spinny thing is it can make some funky noises (which isn't good). Might explain why tipping it upside made it stop (this moves the air bubble out). Verify CPU temps aren't spiking if it stopped making the noise it could be it completely died. The system will seem to work fine initially until the water heat soaks if the pump died.
