Hi :)

I replaced the GPU of my old system (Its a Medion PC)

After i tried to turn it on with the new GPU, just 3 beep sounds come out of of the system. 1 long a nd 2 short ones.

My Specs are:

I7 4770

GTX 760 (was the old gpu, the new one is a 970)

Motherboard: MS - 7848 VER: 1.0

8Gb ddr3 ram

450W FSP PSU.

I am sure that it is NOT a GPU or Ram issue, because i tested bouth in my 2. System.

Even after i put the old GPU back, it didnt boot.

What do u think is the problem here? I even put my old quadro 600 in the system, and it still wont boot...

Thx alot for your help! :D

The mobo model you listed isnt very identifiable, may be but looking for it sounds hard :(
Either way, it should tell you what the beeps mean in the motherboards manual.

CMOS Reset?

had the same issue when i replaced a 1060 to a 5700xt in a 4790k Z97 System.

the PC was literally dead and did not even turned on again.
a CMOS Reset fixed it.

allready reseted it. still 3 beeps :(

did you actually tried to cmos reset with the powersupply on and no battery?

i had many Z87/97 Boards where i acutally had to short the CMOS switch while i was pressing the powerbutton with running powersupply.

i unpugged the pc,

took out the baterry, pushed the powerbttton for 30 sec,

turned the unplugged powersupplyswitch off, pushed the powerbttton for 30 sec

turned the unplugged powersupplyswitch on, pushed the powerbttton for 30 sec

Plugged it back in the wall

Still 3 beeps when i turn it on. Even without GPU in the system

I even changed the CLR CMOS1 Jumper position from 1+2 to 2+3, turned on the pc (nothing happened) and changed it back, and still 3 Beeps...

Okay.

The 1 long and 2 short beeps might telling GPU/VGA/PCIE

I checked something in some german forums (i am german and Medion is a german company.)

there are other people with the same issue on the same board.

in 2 cases it were some bent (d?) Pins in the Socket.

another one had a dead Mobo after switching the GPU (since it's a terrible OEM MSI Mainboard).

did you checked the socket with a bright light and maybe a magnifying glass?

Thx alot for your research. Unfortunately there are no bent Pins in the socket...

I even changed the CLR CMOS jumper to 2+3 for many times and still nothing helps. doesnt matter if a gpu is in the system or not. The 3 beeps are always there...
