Hey guys!

I've basically been going crazy trying to find a good laptop for creative work at my university. As a student, I'm basically looking for a good ratio of price/performance, yet I still need a decent amount of horsepower for the work that i'm going to do. I have not had any luck so far in finding the ideal laptop for my needs, and I now feel like I could use a little help from you people on the forum!

Important thing is to not recommend me a specific deal from a website, but rather a decent laptop itself. I'll find a good deal for it on my own.

Here's what i'm looking for:

  • Portability
  • Core i7 (preferably 6 cores but 4 cores is ok)
  • Dedicated graphics (MX250 or better)
  • SSD (256 GB minimum)
  • Color accurate IPS Panel (preferably a decent coverage of the adobe RGB space)
  • Capability of smooth work in Adobe: Premiere, Photoshop, After effects, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Budget 1000$-1500$ USD
  • Available in Sweden (So no fantastic deals on Amazon or Newegg etc, since the shipping will be too expensive and the laptop won't have the right keyboard layout)

I know these specs are pretty hard to find a good deal for, and I am open for suggestions to make certain compromises! :)

dell inspiron series is decent but i am not sure about screen gamut.

do you prefer a matte or glossy screen. am i correct in assuming glossy is probably better?

Yeah, glossy might be slightly better. Not a dealbreaker though!

maybe take a peek at the MSI Prestige 15. it has a GTX 1650 max-q, its color accurate and has a Intel Core i7-10710U Six-Core. good battery life and i believe is color accurate. 512SSD.

Either a 4k panel or 1080. ask yourself which one is needed. Though the 1080 might suite your needs just fine.

A great suggestion, it looks pretty much perfect for my needs. Will probably have a look at some reviews and see if I can find any good deals for it. The 1080 screen will do, on a screen size that small I personally don't think a 4k panel is worth it.

This is slightly above your budget but is an excellent choice:

Custom Built MSI P65 Creator 9SD-1243 15.6" FHD 144Hz - i7-9750H - GTX 1660 Ti

Also check these:

Custom Built ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GM501GM-WS74 - 15.6" FHD 144Hz G-Sync w/ nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

Custom Built MSI GS65 8SE Stealth-1402 - 15.6" FHD 144Hz - i7-8750H - RTX 2060

HIDevolution has superb quality control so it raises the chances of you getting a laptop that works great out of the box. I suggest you choose "Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads in the laptop configurator" as that little upgrade alone reduces temps by 15C which is a must in today's laptops that sport these fast CPUs.

If you email donald@hidevolution.com you might be able to get a small discount he is the salesman I dealt with before when purchasing from them.
