So my brother got an old r9 280x and i got a xfx RS rx 480 4gb (The RS version got a worse cooler than the GTR). His GPU barely reaches like 60c at like 300rpm While MY reaches like 75c at 1900rpm. the r9 also got some lower voltages and clock speeds compared to the 480, so i was wondering if the MSI r9 cooler would be able to fit on my xfx rx 480? It got kinda the same holes for the heatsink, other than that i dont really know if the fan pin will fit or if the heatsink would be able to cool the memory etc. IF it do would fit, would i be able to see any temp diffrence?

I don't think it will fit, also your rx 480 has a higher thermal output so it will still be hotter. Also there is no need to get a better cooler except the noise is annoying you, as aslong the gpu temps are under 80C it won't thermal throttle.

i think i remember that ive checked if it would fit, and it did. At least the screw holes fit, idk about if it would cool the memory or anything. With the thermal stuff, isnt the r9 series Well known for being AMD's gpus that needed like a minimum 600w psu. They were REALLY bad at power efficiency. Like The MSI r9 280x gaming got a tdp of 250w while the rx got 150tdp, its like dubble!

Honestly I'm no expert with older hardware as I only recently started getting interested in tech. As for the cooler, if you want to try it you should open msi afterburner and look for unusuak temps, if it works, then it works.?
