I love my music, But my current Logitech Z506s arent loud enough, Although I only have the front left and right speakers setup, i get alot of distortion at max volume, And the max volume just isnt loud enough. Ive been thinking of the Mackie cr3, Or the edifier 1280T, But I cant guage if there even an upgrade over my current ones. Can somone recommend some louder/better speakers for £105 or under.

search ebay for a cheap and old stereo amp, i bought an old technics amp for 30€ thats powering some speakers i also bought used.

overall any actual audio equipment is gonna stomp any of these pre made stuff and also gives you the option upgrade later

I'd highly recommend just buying an actual stereo if you want loudness.

and or if you already have an amp then some peavey concert speaker should solve the loudness issue there quite a lot of them on ebay under 100

Something like these?

yes those should exceed what you your ears can handle being within a few feet of them for a computer setup in terms of loudness

I bought one of those hideous shelf stereos from like 2003 with the volume gauges and "bass ports" from goodwill for 20$

..... but darned if it doesn't sound pretty good despite how ugly it is

those should work fine provided you have the cables for them.

Can also just buy an amp and some bookshelf speakers too

these are better than nothing but they will also not give you any options to upgrade later on.

if you get a real AMP and speakers separably you can always upgrade any of them.

Upgrade options arent really a huge concern as of now, Say I got that amp, Would I be able to use just any old passive speakers hook a wire up and let it go?

also while you are on it get yourself a DB meter and see how loud you are actually listening to music, if you go over 80DB you will fuck up your ears big time.

my wife sells hearing aid and half of her customer base are not old people anymore but middle ages people that fucked upo their ears when they were young

thats exactly whats going on with most people that think their music is not loud enough, usually the first sign of damaged hearing so people turn it up more and damage their hearing even more

yea my old AMP is from 1988 but it works perfectly fine, its even better for high powered speakers than my newer Denon AMP, the denon shut down due to heat after a while at high volume while the old technics beast simply keeps going because thay have a fan in there thats directly wired to the audio knob so the louder you go the faster the fan will go.

Your phone will not be calibrated at all. Some of those app's say my talking is about 90db.... so do NOT trust those apps, you need a properly calibrated dB meter.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Also, take a look at this: http://dangerousdecibels.org/education/information-center/decibel-exposure-time-guidelines/

You can listen to 85dB for 8 hours straight with no issues, but after that you can get issues.

the limit you find depends heavily on where you are looking, for example in the EU for anything over 80DB at your workplace you need to wear hearing protection unless its short term exposure

LMAO, I just started working in France and nobody gives a care about security. Just wear a vest and a helmet to look safe. Hearing protection? gloves? safety glasses? nah...
