Running KVM/ethernet switch somehow through software?

Someone got suggestions on running KVM on my setup between my laptop and gaming pc over my existing ethernet switch somehow through software?

 

So basically I use my laptop for school stuff and have all my software licenses needed for school on it. And I have grown tired of using the laptop screen and keyboard when at home when I have a gaming setup with proper monitor and keyboard, mic etc. 

 

I currently have a cheap tp-link switch that I use to split my ethernet cable from downstairs between the pc and laptop. So I was thinking if there would be a way to use that connection between the laptop and PC somehow to use my PC as a "hub" for the setup while the laptop is connected so that I could do my math etc on the laptop using the way more ergonomic setup and then close the laptop and game in the evening. 

 

So it would basically be like streaming the laptop to the PC I guess through the ethernet connection but I haven't found simple and easy way of achieving this on my own. Anyone with a similar situation that has any suggestions or anyone with any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

Off the top of my head there's 5 things you can try:

RDP

Parsec

TeamViewer

AnyDesk

VNC Viewer+TightVNC

 

They all have pros and cons. You can try them all and choose which works best for your setup.

+1 for RDP, it works really well over LAN.
