I'm considering building a new PC. These days I haven't really kept up on current tech, so I feel that don't really know what I'm doing. I want to gear this toward gaming, but my lady would like to be able to use this edit the occasional photo or video from her Canon 80D from time to time.

A basic rundown of my current PC is as follows:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD

Graphics: GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7950

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3

This is as far as I got trying to put something together. It's missing a graphics card, and due to that it is also missing a power supply. I was looking through Asus graphics cards, but I'm not really sure how they stack up. I'm currently using one monitor due to space constraint, but considering trying to make two monitors feasible. No peripherals needed. Suggestions on how to finish this build, or how I should modify it to make it better if needed would be very appreciated.

Avoid sticking to just one brand of graphics cards, as every brand, including Asus, makes cruddy graphics cards (the Asus TUF 5700 XT graphics card is one of the worst 5700 XTs on the market due to overheating issues), as is the same with power supplies, CPUs, motherboards, and pretty much every other component that can go in a PC.

Basically, always look at reviews for products. It's perfectly fine to be a fan of a company's products, but vote with your wallet today so you get better products in the future.

Anyway, what kind of gaming performance are you looking at? And do you have a maximum budget? Also, do you specifically need RGB RAM? You can get 3200 MHz G.Skill Aegis 64 GB RAM for $80 less, and it'll have the same timings and frequency - just no RGB.
