Wasting food, the potatoes the pumpkin and the watermelon, is not really in the spirit of this effort. Since most deforestation happens because we need more farmland, be it for people food or animal food.

 I've got a backyard project going where I've purchased tree seeds and am growing seedlings in red party cups (added drainage holes at the bottom) to donate to urban tree planting. I've currently got about 70 white spruce going and 10 Manitoba maples. I'm going to start cultivating a small number of bur oaks next spring.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

so normally socks and sandals are frowned upon. But seeing sock and sandals being worn IN THE RAIN while doing work that will absolutely make your socks wet, i'm starting to think @LinusTech is actually a masochist.

I don't think the point was to waste food. I think the point was to make tree planting fun and interesting, which will do more for environmental efforts than a few vegetables will take away.
