Apple released iPad OS 13 a bit ago.  I have an iPad Air 2, which it works on....but I haven't updated yet. I usually wait a bit before doing updates for the bugs to be shaking out. But, In a week, I'm going on a trip where the supposed new features will be useful.

So, as this forum would have iPad users, but not lots of Apple evangelists, have you upgraded? If so, what do you think?

I did on my 2018 9.7" iPad and it's great but it's not a complete game changer that will leave the competition flummoxed other than the fact that the iPad is the only tablet that sells well nowadays.

  • iPadOS can now read and write to USB drives without a third party app (with a dongle for non-pro iPads)
  • split screen multitasking just gotten better
  • It now has macOS' Expose'
  • Icons can now be smaller and display widgets on landscape

There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside

I literally just updated an iPad Air 2 to iPadOS 13 - these are work ipads (the first of about... 50 or so). So I haven't actually used the OS much at all. They're mostly used by kids for educational apps.

No issues so far.

This is the feature I'm most interested in...

(I have the IOS camera kit for my dead ipad 1, but it use the dock connectors, so can't plug in the drives, which isn't so much needed anyway...though I could see if I could cable something toghether...)

I have a ipad mini 4, I've upgraded. honestly its not that big of a difference. Perhaps @DrMacintoshcan help you more

iPadOS 13 and iOS 13 bring a lot to the table.

Desktop browsing (for iPad), a Downloads manager, and external storage support along with SMB file server support.

It’s kinda a big deal.

Hmmm.. that reminds me to look up issues with SMB and El Capitan at some point...

You’d be surprised just how much impact simply having access to full Google Docs has on the productiveness of a tablet.

All the iPad needs are Pro apps and it could genuinely be a laptop replacement for basically everyone except PC gamers and programmers.

Updated this weekend, and so far so good....Everything feels really "slick"...smoother...whether that's true or illusion I don't know.

(wish you could still use iTunes on the mac to still organize the icons..the move one at a time on screen sucks :( )

Haven't found some of the features that @DrMacintosh mentioned yet, but I'll look around :)
