How big is Louqe Ghost S1 with its tophats?

I recently looked at some Ghost S1 builds around.

This case is a niche enthusiast grade SFF case.

These people are looking to get real small case and Ghost S1 is one of them.

What makes me confused about it is, they put large tophats to be able to put radiators and makes the overall build significantly larger.

How big is actually its volume with those tophats that makes those people look like they oppose their own intention by getting small case but make it larger?

From my perspective they looks like they betray themselves by doing so, and what's the point of getting this case and make it significantly larger by adding large tophats on top and below the case. While there are some cases that considered as not an SFF or unpopular only because they are slightly out of the maximum volume limit of this category or just on that boundary.

What's the idea of getting small case and make it larger?

If they want to use water cooling why dont they just use the more appropriate sized case, or just face the challange to cramp the radiator in the actual size of the case?

Putting large tophats on Ghost S1 to be able to install radiator is a weird flex.

Dont hate me and dont get me wrong, I like this case for some reasons, but those tophats are weird excuses/compromises that makes those enthusiast look stupid/inconsistent with their principle.

One word: Modularity.

The case is 8.5 L with no hats on it. And each hat is 15, 26 and 57mm tall respectively. Adding each top hat in order increases volume to 9.2, 9.7 and 11L respectively. (I did the math) and that's only consider one piece on one side of the case, not both.

Thanks, so even put 2 L hats on top and bottom, still put it within the volume limit of SFF category?

If so, that makes sense then, but still a weird flex. How if we compare the Ghost S1 vs Dan C4-SFX?

The C4-SFX looks better than the Gost S1 with 2x large hats

Idk why, but everytime I see Ghost S1 with large tophats, it always reminds me of this

The C4-SFX is just shy of 10L and keeps the 240mm rad within the same space. However, notably the CPU is almost required to be watercooled due to the GPU sitting directly in front of wherever a low profile CPU cooler would normally be.

I that project still ongoing? Last I heard it was delayed, but as mentioned in a different thread I dont have my finger on the pulse for most SFF cases

Gives you choices. Might fit a low power build in the base case, for a more powerful build you might need the small hat to add fans for additional cooling, medium hat to fit 3.5" HDDs, big one for watercooled builds because that's a thing some people like...

SFF is a loose concept, the most general definition is probably just not having a case full of empty space.
