is it worth buying the rmx for the 10y warranty or should i buy a whisper m with 7y warranty?

Tier D+ - Potentially dangerous, but only in rather unrealistic situations

I was thinking of buying this, any reason why this is rated so low?

because it's as far as i'm aware a seasonic FX based unit, without enough modification to solve the problem

i've emailed asus about this, but they never answered, and seasonic themselves can't confirm nor deny what focus it's based off. hence it's position, until proven otherwise

@LukeSavenije Can you clear things out ? TR Smart M judging by TPU review uses modified platform, same as in older Corsair TXm, but there's only on Corsair TXm in the tier list, under tier A without mention of the year and TR Smart M is in tier D, so i guess that either older Corsair TXm aren't okay or there's some stuff going on with TR Smart M that doesn't make it good unit in comparison.

there are multiple lines of "old" TXM's, by multiple oems

as they've been EOL for years now, we chose not to include them

Ok, can you at least mark that new TXm with a year as with other units ?

i did... even if i don't exactly see the problem, since the older tx/txm were bronze or 80+, but i changed it

and some other small updates, that's why it took a little longer than usual

Good to see Seasonic are actually worked things out with newer Focus revision, now we need to wait until they'll be actually available online for the adequate price lol. Phanteks AMP 650W are 90$, hmm, a little bit less and it'll be good value.

What does that mean tho ?

here they're decently priced, for the gx at least. i haven't seen a decently priced px or gm here yet.

now only need to wait for core reviews to come out...

I wouldn't say it would be a very good buy with it's sleeve bearing fan tho.

i mean... all i've seen of it so far is internal shots

and it looks like a downgraded focus, but reviews are to show how good it is in the end

i hope they come in the coming weeks

I know they're in the same Tier, but what are the differences? Curious because I might be looking to buy one (650w) in the new year.

They are within $5 of each other. I know Corsair has refreshed their line for 2019. So the RMX is pre-2019 and has a 7 year warranty, the RM is 2019 and has a 10 year warranty. My understanding is that the RM now has some chinese capacitors where the pre-2019 RMX does not but the warranty is longer on the RM. Tough choice.

main differences are the following

RM uses Teapo/Elite caps versus the NipponChemicon/Nichicon ones on RMx, RM uses a worse rifle bearing fan. the rmx has in-cable caps, while the rm doesn't, rm does meet 2.52 atx super low power states, but makes a bit of a high-pitched sound while doing it from what I've seen

hence my preference for rmx

rmx is from 2018/2015

the differences here i'm describing with the rmx 2018 and the rm 2019, but the 2015 rmx is similar to the 2018

Thx, I see that the 2017 TXM is in the same Tier. I am migrating my old PC to a new PC. The old PC has a 2017 750 TXM. Do you think it's safe to reuse it in the new PC instead of buying an RM/RMx? new PC has Ryzen 3800x/Nvidia 1080/3 SSDs/1 Nvme/32 GB DDR4.

Not sure if you guys have seen this but it looks like EVGA is releasing another PSU: the EVGA GA series. Glancing over the specs, I really can't see a major difference between this and the recently released G5 series.
