Why aren't RM850x (black) on the list? And are the white ones genuinely different from the black ones?

You are like the 100th person asking this question. In the next revision we will be adding black into the white ones as it seems that the current one is creating a lot of confusion.

Adding black into the white ones? As in, you're saying that the black and white ones are the same tier / rating?

Indeed its the same rating, the "()" Is for model variations. As written in the legacy.

This case saying that the white is the same as the regular version.

@jonnyGURUCan you please reiterate your findings about CWT GPX blowing up on 90V burn-in here, since JG forum is dead now ? Another reason why i'm asking is that while 850W version uses ON Semi 8A boost diode (IIRC the culprit was the too weak boost diode), 650/750W versions use STMicroelectronics 6A boost diode, which may stand up better ? What wattages was you testing and which ones blew up ?

Also, @jonnyGURUwe're wondering how you implemented a 12V OCP on RM-x ? If it is there of course, which Aris reviews seem to imply but he could be wrong i guess. Is it programmed into microcontroller ?

It will probably be more down to your personal preferences like price, features/cables, local availability.  Read reviews on the narrowed down selection.

Yellow means best in the tier. Or you can find and compare reviews yourself.

In addition, pricing policies vary from country to country, so the best choice may vary at any time depending on where you live.

The CX platform topology is LLC primary with DC-DC secondary, while the CX-m is Double Forward primary with DC-DC secondary. There is a link to a spreadsheet in the first post that details all of this. There are also resources there for explaining what it all means.

Wow.  That was too long ago.  I can't remember if it was the boost diode or the PWM MOSFET.  I do know that we're still passing on GPX platform.  Even for low cost Gold, we're favoring HEC (similar platform to EVGA GT).

The RMx uses an IN1S313i and WT7502R supervisor IC as well as a WT7518 specifically for OCP.

EDIT:  I understand the confusion.  I just noticed that Aris only calls out one supervisor IC in the review.  My guess is once he saw the WT7502R, he moved on....

Just to make sure, by CX-m you meant this series right? (sorry, the lowercase kinda threw me off for some reason)

oh, it seems the rosewill photon is actually tier B according to the PSU tier list

same tier as CX

conflicting information, are those bad or good

Quote

That would be bad information.  CX is LLC with DC to DC.  Which is better than double forward.  CX-M is double forward with MOSFET SR.  Photon is double forward with Schottky diode SR.  Quite the difference.

Just a quick general question:

Is it safe to use a good power supply (be quiet straight power 10 CM 600W) beyond the 5 year warranty, how long can and should you use a PSU?

Multiple threads on that topic.  Do make a dedicated thread, since it’s off-topic here.

Lots of complaints there about the price and being too close to Gold efficiency products.  What did they use for a reference point for price (MSRP?) and what Gold efficiency product is the same price?
