Well, if it's any similiar to Chieftec Polaris version, which is rated at 50°C ambient and were successfully tested by Aris, there shouldn't be any problems, especially at 150W load.

I have the Super Flower Leadmax III PSU and I ran out of SATA connectors.

What can I do? Is there a way  to buy an extra SATA modular cable, or should I use Molex to SATA and connect to hard drives? I have read the molex-to-sata way is not safe for hard drives.

Any good advise?

6+ HDDs ? Maybe it would be a good idea to get rid of some and get bigger capacity one instead ?

So, I need to get a computer build running that's not going to have high power draw, but it will be a 24/7 server so I don't want something that's a fire hazard. The system is on a battery backup at my office and just has to keep a RAID array going and run simple backup software.

I'm looking at this, and if I'm reading the list right this falls under a Tier C? It's a Corsair CV that's less than 550w, but not sure if the label color applies to this line as well:

https://www.newegg.com/corsair-cv-series-cv450-cp-9020209-na-450w/p/N82E16817139251

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

No mention of label color for this lineup in the list, so no, it doesn't apply, and this PSU is okay for iGPU build.

Hey guys, esp those in 3rd world countries, how do you get your desired brand of Power Supplies ?

esp during the COVID-19 pandemic ? when all imports are either stuck or in prolonged transit ?

Please let me know. I'm having a HELL of a hard time finding my desired PSU ( Cooler Master MWE Gold ) in the City of Karachi, Pakistan.

My PSU finally gave way ( its fan started making weird ass noises, so i just took it out from my PC to avoid risking anything ! ) and i am currently without my PC.

Would appreciate if any one can offer tips and advice.

Many thanks you people !

Have you tried looking online? Like an Online marketplace or something like that? I'm from Indonesia and I can find good ones in a heartbeat, even faster than those on the USA.

Hey mate, hope you're doing well in Indonesia !

There's no Ebay or Amazon here, so we already have a bit of a limited choice. Its basically what the dealers and distributors want to import, is what comes to the country.

most shops are very lazy when updating their online websites, so its kinda unreliable. I have contacted a handful of shops and distributors, but they all complain that imports are BADLY slowed down. Hence the lack of good PSUs in the market ( we have Redragon and thermaltake but i DO NOT trust either !! )

i guess you guys have a very slick distribution network overall and stuff is readily available. That's really great.

i'll have to be patient, i believe. Lets see what's on offer at the weekend !

@Yaxir Thermaltake does have some decent stuff tho you can see in the list, Thermaltake GX1 (non-RGB) perhaps being one of the cheapest, widely available and good enough options, maybe some Grand RGB and Toughpower RGBs also but they're generally a bit on the expensive side.

On your problem, i have no idea if that applies to Pakistan but well, in Uzbekistan i were struggling to get anything even remotely good for my PC until i've ended up ordering PC parts in US and shipping them here with the help of parcel forwarding service. Essentially, i buy stuff in US to the address of their warehouse in taxless state (Delaware) so i don't pay US taxes, then they pack it in bulk with other parcels, ship here on air in ~2 weeks and deliver to me in person, i just pay flat 10$/kg rate (so PSU and the case being heavy ended up adding quite a bit of extra cost, still cheaper than here tho) but we have rather loose import taxes, i don't pay anything as long as i stay below 1k$ per quarter of the year, so it may be different for Pakistan.

Hey @Juular, great to hear from you again. Hope all is good on your side in Uzbekistan.

Pakistan customs are very strict ( probably one of the strictest department, when it comes to civilian dealing ) and they will inspect all and every package. so a ton of import duties will be applied UNLESS the parcel forwarding service that works for you ALSO has operations in Pakistan ( its the only way i can ask them for a similar favor as yours) and will be willing to do the same thing.

i think i will have to rely on whatever comes from the import. we currently have cougar psus ( did i mention them above ) but as they arrived from Germany or somewhere from EU, they cost wayy too much than they should.

so i'm waiting for stuff like CM, Corsair and FSP ( Hydro GE is Tier B and i will thank my stars for getting my hands on that ! ) . Whichever Tier B/B+ PSU i can buy under 12k Pakistani rupees, i will literally JUMP at the chance !

P.S : The Thermaltake PSU models you mention are not available here, wtf !

Hey its my first time here so sorry if Im posting in the wrong place, but I need some help because Im kind of at a loss.
So some backstory: I built my system about 5 years ago and its gone through some changes. Right now it has an i5 7400 and a 1060 6gb with a Corsair (green) CX 430 PSU. I now know my PSU choice was not the best but hey, it lasted me through all these years.
Lately, with all the staying at home, Ive been using my PC more and more and Ive noticed some really annoying sounds. The worst is the CPU cooler but the PSU has started making some noise as well. Since Im planning to upgrade with the next gen stuff I thought why not upgrade the "secondary" components in the mean time. I got a Hyper 212 black for the CPU and a Super Flower Leadex III 650W Gold to replace the PSU. The thing is, I've seen the leaks claiming the RTX 30 series could be really power hungry so Im wondering if the 650 watts will be enough or if I should return this unit to buy a more powerful one. I dont think Im going for the top of the line 3090 or 3080 so maybe it would be enough?
Im just looking for some advice from someone who knows better.

Thanks everyone!

You can find such user feedback on any PSU (please don't call marketplace user feedback - 'reviews', that hurts my brain), regardless of how high-end it is there's still some chance that a failed unit will slip QC, that's what warranty is for. If there were overwhelming reports of some QC issues with this PSU then we would've detiered or grayed it out as we did with Seasonic Focus, EVGA G3 & G5, Super Flower Leadex III, Corsair SF and a dozen other PSUs in the past until we'll have confirmation that it's fixed, but there are none such reports for this unit we're aware of.

Eh, actually there is at least three. The ST-F-ESG, ET-HG, and ET-G. I feel really stupid saying they're the same even though there's nothing wrong in that statement...

Here in Indonesia we have sites that is similar to ebay, but is only local. You might miss some hidden gems like Chieftec, SAMA, Segotep, which could be available in your country. So use this list as a cheatsheet if you can find those relatively unknown brands. I'm actually very impressed how the component markets seemed so resilient here in Indonesia, In fact I just built a PC and they had everything in stock. I think ordering from Indonesia would be better than ordering from USA like @Juular suggested, as they're also in shortage, haha.

Leadex III 650w have finally arrived. It works and didnt explode :D

I thought i'd be OK with hybrid mode "1" - the described fan curve setting looks reasonable, but sometimes the fan spins when i browse the internet. Once i switch to mode "0" the fan stops so i guess that is something to to with hysteresis.

Strange because in aris review he said he could not find an audible difference between 2 eco modes, well i have.. Really wonder what could possibly heat up the components so much at low load that the fan decides to spin. Well it cools down and stops pretty soon after it turns on, but anyway i prefer mode "0" for desktop and browsing.

Other than that there is no coil whine or buzzing or whatever else, but the PSU smells terribly out of the box :D

I recommend leaving it with the fan mode "2" for a day and open the window in you room to get rid of the smell

As a Corsair VS 650w 2012 (orange label) owner what is so bad with this PSU. Is it a miracle it's lasted 8 years or was it QA issues and I have an alright one? Was using a 3570k on it and now I've got a 8700k and a 1070ti.
