Hello may i ask why is the tier list EOL? It says last update was in July last year, that's about 7-8 months since it last got updated, why does it just go EOL for no reason? It's an online forum cannot we continually add information by editing the post?

Hey guys.

I'm looking at these PSU's for my folding at home machines which run 24/7, so I would like to get the best PSU's possible.

Unfortunately these are the only options that make sense in my region:

  • SilverStone DA1650-G 1650W 80 Plus Gold, looks like a Tier A.
  • Corsair RMx Series RM1000x 1000W 80 Plus Gold, Tier A?
  • Seasonic Focus+ 1000W 80 Plus Gold, Tier A?
  • SilverStone SX1000-LPT 1000W 80 Plus Platinum, Tier C?
  • Phanteks Revolt X 1000W 80 Plus Platinum, looks like a Tier A.
  • Seasonic Prime GX1000 1000W 80 Plus Gold, looks like a Tier A.
  • Corsair HX1000 1000W 80 Plus Platinum, Don't know which Tier.
  • Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus 1000W 80 Plus Gold, looks like a Tier A.
  • SilverStone ST1000-PTS 1000W 80 Plus Platinum, Tier B?
  • Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 1050W 80 Plus Platinum, not sure which Tier.
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G+ 80 Plus Gold 1300W, not sure which Tier.

I would be grateful for any recommendations and/or clarifications on which Tiers these these PSU's belong in.

Many thanks 👍

This is basically as good as it gets. This one is gold tier A and single/multi-rail switchable. To continue this discussion, though, you should:

I see that know but I immediately scrolled down to the first post missing it.

Considering all the flashy text and pictures littering websites these days I have become desensitized, like ignoring ads for an example, considering I'm jumping around many tabs and programs a small blue box with little white writing isn't obvious IMO, but still my mistake sorry.

Hi i just bought Deepcool DQ750m-V2L since its in GOLD a TIER A recommendation yet i seen its also in Tier C low priority (exact model) i think i'm screwed 😞 is there any problem to it? i'm using it to Ryzen 7 3700x + GTX 1050ti (going to change to RTX 3060ti or 70 if price go down).

yeah i seen it thats why i'm scared because i dont understand whats that 😞 230v = 450watts so basically cant run 3070 stable with it? since pcpartpicker wattage estimated is 456w??

i played like 16 hours a day (8 hours job 8 hours game mostly idle in 1 to 2 hrs interval but the pc is on.

I'm starting to see so many tier A 750W unit owners coming here with PSU problems on the really high end cards and CPUs.  750W just doesn't cut it anymore does it?

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

What specific models of PSU and GPU ? 750W is enough for RTX3080, RTX3090/3090 Ti would need 850/1kW respectively. Add another 100W if it's one of those unhinged Intel CPUs. Most PSUs work at these wattages with the exception of Seasonic Prime based units (so Corsair AX, ASUS THOR, Phanteks Revolt X and Antec Signature too), some (or most) Andyson designs such as EVGA GA and some High Power designs like Thermaltake Grand RGB Gold.

yeah i'm on about those with the 3090/6900xt with top end CPUs like the 5800x and 12900k onwards.  It's just an observation of how much the demand for power has gone up in the ultra high end that's all.  perhaps the list needs like a 'Tier S' for those peeps that are willing to spend on halo products?

Well.. the "problem" is multi-faceted...

You sell more units, you see more problems.  That's one.  Take the RMx, for example.  That PSU sells more than any other Corsair PSU by 10x.  But because of that, we see 10x the returns and 10x the complaints.  😄

There's also the misconception that better performance means better quality.  I get so sick of the argument of "if it's at least 80 PLUS Gold, it's good!"  It's easier to make a Gold efficiency that is either a bomb or performs like crap than it does to make a rock solid Bronze, but it would cost as much or maybe more.  But the "market" wants "Gold" so you aim for "Gold" and you do it in any way possible to make money in such a saturated market.

There's also the problem of breaking something when you fix something else.  Need higher efficiency and/or smaller size?  Increase switching frequency.   Oops!  No my EMI and audible noise are off the charts.  Time to fix that.

And then there's circuit complexity.  If you DO want to make a good, efficient PSU that performs well, you have to perform some magic tricks.  But more parts means more to break.  PSUs aren't just a box of caps.  You have every electrical component named in your old Forest M. Mims III book from Radio Shack in a PSU, and any one of them can fail for any reason.

And finally, there's the misconception about warranty.  "If it has a 10 year warranty, it must be good."  No.  Warranty is a myth.  If you sell a lot of something, you have more revenue.  More revenue means you can pay more people to do things like RMA, tech support, etc.  You amortize those expenses into the cost of the product.  It costs less to support and amortize that cost into the product than it does to actually make the product better.

When anyone says, "It has a 12 year warranty, so it must be good", I automatically think of this scene:

That is so true even with vehicles like I always see Kia sell cars with a standard 7 year warranty and advertise it heavily and you don't see Porsche advertise there warranty period at all as they believe in their products and stand by them while Kia isn't 100% sure and tries to portray their products as reliable through advertising their standard 7 year warranty.
