out of curiousity why is the RMx 2018 (white) gold tier but the RMx 2018 (black) is not even in the list. whats the difference here? i got the rmx 2018 (black) at a deal with a good price.

The black RMx is just called the RMx. White being in parenthesis means that it also includes the white version.

Probably is the same unit but just different colour (if I'm wrong then sorry)

If you're this unsure, maaaaaaaaaybe it would be better to just avoid replying, to avoid possibly misleading someone?

So I saw a while back that evga released a BP line of power supplies, I'm building an office PC and was wondering if anyone had even the faintest idea of what the build quality is? the only advantage I can see over the BR at the same price is that it advertises a HDB fan vs sleeve bearing fan and takes up less space. (Not really needed but still)

sadly, EVGA doesn't send out reviewer samples so all we can currently do is take an educated guess from the backside. It looks to be a platform similar to CV650, basically a smaller versoin of BV. Do keep in mind that many cheap "FDB" fans are often either sleeve or rifle bearing

Does anyone have an experience with Toughpower GF2 ARGB psu's or this one in particular? I'm trying to find reviews, but there is hardly anything about it online.

From the source here (and and attached image), it is an entirely different OEM than GF1/ARGB (CWT to High Power) with a lower operating ambient temperature rating (50C --> 40C). They probably did something with the LEDs (18 per ring) to address user control, but someone else could butt in here to fill in gaps.

Planning to replace my old faulty Seasonic M12II 520w EVO with a newer one. And I found this Corsair CX650M as well as Cooler Master MWE Gold 650 v2. But I wonder which one should I pick. I chose 650w so incase I upgrade my CPU/GPU in the future I will have some extra wattage. Currently using the following specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 (Stock)
  • GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
  • MOBO: Asrock AB350 Pro4
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB (2x8GB 3200mhz)
  • STORAGE: 1 TB NVME / 240 GB M.2 SSD / 1 TB HDD

My budget is max $110 or ₱5,200. There's other PSU to choose from here, if you could recommend other from the available brands there. Thank you!

Looking to get a new PSU for a system I'm working on Planned build is as follows:

CPU: 5900X

GPU: God willing a 3080 from LTT, or somewhere. Possibly EVGA FTW 3, or 3080 ROG Strix OC?, or Gigabyte Aorus Extreme? Something 3080.

MOBO: X570 MAG Tomahawk

RAM - G.Skill Neo Trident Z 32 GB(2x16GB 3600mhz.)

Storage: 2 TB NVME, 1 TB NVME.

I've been out of the loop on PSU's for a while, and aimming for titanium or platinum cert because I'm a bit paranoid on PSU's since I had one go and short out an old system I had like 5 years ago. Thanks!

I'm sorry for asking this question, but:

Since it is currently listed as a Bronze tier PSU on Cybenetics for 240v (low PF of 0.92).

Should the Superflower iii ARGB 650w still be considered for 240v?

It depends on what the policy is like in your country. AFAIK some countries require you to pay for reactive loads and others don't, so it depends there. With that being said the amount of reactive power you have to pay is very little for these kind of usage, so I'll still consider buying it. BTW, I think SF mistuned the APFC somehow, because it shouldn't be that low. I'm wondering if the issue has been fixed because it should be pretty easy to fix.

You can also recognize it from the missing inrush current protection and that weird axial capacitor.

And also that linear regulator for the important -12V rail next to the step-down converters.

I’m curious about the Thermaltake Toughpower PF1 ARGB 1050W 80+ Platinum.

It’s not in gold or blue in the tier list, but the GF1 version is in gold.  If I understand things correctly, the GF1 is just the 850W 80+ Gold version of the PF1.

Is the PF1 worse or less desirable than the GF1 for some reason?

Thank you for your response it is very much appreciated.

So I'm sorry to ask another question.

But, I've noticed that the SF iii ARGB also uses ATX 2.32 instead of ATX 2.52, is that something worth worrying about?

Note:

I plan to buy the white version to match my case.

GF1 = CWT GPR/PF1 ARGB = CWT CST

Only the same manufacturer, a completely different device.

No, it's not. PF1 is higher-end platform but TT fucked up fan profile so it's loud, that's why it's neither blue or gold colored. And then there's also PF1 non-ARGB which is completely different, not the same OEM even.

ATX 2.5.2 requires you to have >70% efficiency at <10W loads and compatibility with alternative sleep mode (where T1 needs to be < 150ms and 100-150ms for T3). There might be more things between the two (such as rise time standards), but I can't remember the exact requirement. But as far as I can remember none of it is related to the general performance.

We need to move the PF1 non ARGB to tier A ASAP!

Saw this Super Flower unit is marked down to $75 (promo EMCETSW38) at Newegg. Super Flower Legion GX Gold PRO 650W: https://www.newegg.com/super-flower-legion-gx-gold-pro-sf-650p14xe-650w/p/1HU-024C-00030?Description=super flower legion gx gold&cm_re=super_flower legion gx gold-_-9SIAMNPC9T0174-_-Product

At a glance, the pricing seems relatively reasonable considering our present day circumstances. Can't really find any reviews of it though. What do you sleuths say?
