GTX 1050ti Gigabyte dual monitor (not working)

Go to solution Solved by Screamcho,

Ok I got it to work just by tapping the cable i'm so sorry I should've tried that earlier.
Thank you very much for your time

Hello,
so I bought myself a gtx 1050ti and I wanted to set up a dual monitor to it via HDMI and DVI/VGA (with a adapater) after I tried to run the dual monitor set up it didn't work then my friend told me to get a active vga to dvi adapter (I really don't know what that is) so I bought it. It came today and I plugged everything in its order the adpater to the graphics card and then the vga cable to the monitor. But its still not working. Can someone help if he knows something about that topic because im not that good with computers.
Thank you?

An active adapter is basically a "powered" adapter that has a little circuit board in it to create a vga signal. Your card doesn't make a vga signal so it needs an actual device to do it.

As for the current setup make sure your adapter doesn't need some sort of external power source. also are you activating the monitor in windows?
