Hiya guys,

I'm well overdue for a headphone upgrade as my og HyperX clouds will be re-purposed for another pc. So many sites/videos seem to say one is better over the others, so it's hard to narrow down to one. The ones I have on my list are as follows:

Beyerdynamic 1990 Pro Open @£370

Beyerdynamic Amiron @£400

Sennheiser 600S @£360

Shure SRH1540 @£340

The main use for these will be for gaming. Other than that, occasional movies and a whole variety of music. If there's anything else that you might recommend, feel free to mention it.

Do you already have a DAC/AMP? If not buy that before buying $400 headphones

I'll be buying the Schiit Magni 3. Still on the fence about buying a DAC too, but I'm guessing it'll be inevitable,

The Bose noise canceling Bluetooth headphones

Not too big on noise cancelling on gaming headphones. Would rather see a product use that budget for an open back design or something.

And I take it you really want headphones in that category and won't settle for $100-150 pairs that are likely good enough?

But if it is pretty comparable, then I'll consider it.

Seems like you could save $300, sell 2 of those monitors at least 3* Asus PG279Q and get a 100-120hz ultra wide, though in the US They're only $400...

Astro A50s are nice

For the price, they're damn good. However, I already have a proper mic on the way, so it'll kinda be a waste.

Not sure when I last updated my specs tbh. I do a lot of racing sims with a few friends every now and then and being above 60Hz is slightly easier on the eyes. I got em at a really good price and they've lasted me a good number of years.

Edit: Updated the specs

With that budget, Its hard to think of anything better than the Sennheiser HD6xx. For their price they're pretty unbeatable.

Those are about £200, leaving you £200 for an amp+DAC.

I'd strongly suggest the JDS atom. It really is the best amp around that price range and much better than the magni 3.
Then, either a Grace SDAC if you can get your hands on one (ebay likely as its not always on drop), or a Schiit Modi 3 failing that.

TLDR:
-Sennheiser HD6xx from drop.com. Absolutely fantastic headphones
-JDS atom amp
-Grace SDAC if you can find one, Schiit Modi 3 if not

(the Khadas tone board is also an exceptional DAC, and will sound better than the modi 3, but you'll need to get a chassis for it as its literally just the PCB, so thats an option if you're willing to do a bit of DIY)

Video reviews: https://youtube.com/goldensound Written reviews and measurements: https://goldensound.audio
Current Main Setup: Roon -> HQPlayer -> Intel NUC -> Intona 7055-C Isolator -> Holo Audio May KTE DAC-> Holo Serene KTE preamp -> Benchmark AHB2 / Woo WA33
Most used headphones: Hifiman Susvara, Abyss 1266 Phi TC, Sennheiser HD800-S

For some reason, can't seem to find an option to deliver to the UK on drop.com. I'm guessing this is a US specific product.
