Can anyone get Win7 working (and updates) on Threadripper PC?

I have a Threadripper 2950X on a MSI MEG x399 board and would like to know if above challenge has been achieved by anyone?

I understand running WUFUC https://github.com/zeffy/wufuc/releases is part of the process and have Enterprise Win7 ISO to try out.

Any successful step-by-step notes out there?

It should install about the same way as normal ryzen. If you have the hardware, just try it.

But really don't run windows 7 these days. Why do you need win 7, run it in a vm if you really need it. And if you run it in a vm you won't have any of those issues.

I can't read this site (the colour scheme gives me a headache) but it seems like there would be some useful info here

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Nope, I have an r5 1600 myself, ran windows 7 on it with no problem.

I also briefly had a 2200G, I tried to run my windows 7 installation that I use for the 1600 on it, no-go, BSOD during boot.

I tried installing it with a modified windows 7 ISO that has all the necessary drivers; failed again.

Maybe, I am not sure because I haven't tested it but first-gen threadripper might work but that would be the very last one you can run on windows 7.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

I would just virtualize it and optimize the performance of the VM. Install Linux with QEMU then put Windows 7 on that. Have the VM start with Linux and you can run it with near native performance. The hypervisor would take care of any compatibility issues.

GPU pass-though will be tricky though.

Need to use Win7 as have some software (and games) that do not perform well with Windows 10

Sure, VM's are a viable solution but do not allow for full hardware support, especially some older hardware and purchased software i have that only work well with Win7.
Once i get WIn7 up and running smoothly i can dual boot with Win10 and get best from both worlds.

Then try vms.

You can passthrough hardware so the software has full access to the hardware it needs. Try that first.

Afaik W7 is EOL. Might be time to move away from your programs and update to current software.
