1. Lobbying? Yes. Yes it should be. Too bad the lobbyists lobby against that.

2. This is like saying that if you give someone something in exchange for a service that you are entitled to a cut of whatever that person makes from selling that thing. Here's a parable:

Just as you sold the playstation to encyclopedia for his service, you sell your data to big companies for their service, and thus should not expect any cut of any transactions they make using it. The data is no longer your property.

3. I agree with this statement completely.  Edit: Scratch that. The companies should be liable for damages that they cause you, regardless of if it was due to the leaking of the data that they had collected on you or other causes. Generally holding companies accountable for damages they cause is a good thing, and should not be restricted to being for certain things.

I partially agree about lobbying, it should be limited to private citizens and not corporations.

2. The point is that this shit needs to be illegal. So we threaten them with having for fork over the cash. Your analogy isn't that good because we're the customer, but also a product to be sold.

"but you get paid by way of using their service for free!" But it isn't free, I have to fork over my private data to use the service, they profit from that data, I want more for what I am giving up. Why? Because what I am giving up is more valuable than what they are giving me, hence them being able to stay afloat financially.

3. I am saying that companies should be liable for damages on a 1:1 scale, so long as that scale factors in legal costs and inflation, but not just damages.

Example: In the late 90's/early 2000's, Capitol One laid off a few thousand employees right as they were about to get their pensions, there was a class action, each employee ended up receiving a years salary (or something like that) but it was still a financial profit for Capitol One, because the cost of one years salary of all those employees, was significantly less than that of the pensions they would have had to pay out.

They should have had to pay the legal fees for all those employees, and THEN pay them the pensions as promised, adjusted for inflation.

Dont buy one....  IMHO there is no good reason to have them anyway, they cant do anything a good phone can and at least with android(AOSP without google stuff) you can have a phone without spyware.

Would be nice if basic controls were strictly local without any telemetry or remote reporting. They already have all these super duper neural engines, they might as well use them...
