Hi all,

I recently upgraded monitors from a 34 inch 75hz LG ultrawide to the 24 inch AOC C24g1 and was planning on ordering a second one for a nice dual monitor setup.

However, when i hooked up my gpu to my monitor via dp, when i booted up games, i would get frequent intermittent black screens lasting about 2-5 secs a piece and occuring roughly every 15 secs. This is a totally new issue that i never encountered with my previous monitor. Obviously, this makes gaming basically impossible. I've tried everything i could think of - using ddu and reinstalling all drivers, using hdmi, rolling back to earlier gpu and display drivers, and nothing has solved the problem UNLESS i reduce the refresh rate to 100hz and use RTSS to lock my fps at 100. Obviously this defeats the purpose of a 144hz monitor.

Has anybody had this happen to them and know how to fix it, and/or know some more things i could to troubleshoot? Or is my monitor just faulty?

PC Specs

Ryzen 5 2500

XFX RX 580 GTS XXX 8GB

16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz DDR4

Corsair CX650m PSU

ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING

My guess is (assuming you've tried different cables, ports on the gpu, even maybe a different GPU, etc.) it's probably just a faulty monitor.  I would just RMA it and get a replacement, if you still have the issue it could be GPU related.

why no dark mode?

Thats going to be caused from a junky DP cable. The cables that come by default with monitors are usually utter garbage. Get yourself a decent DP cable and use that and you should be good.
