I'm using google assistant and I would like to run as much as possible with the google home app and not 3rd party apps.
1) Recently my phone updated and now google assistant won't turn my lights on while my phone is locked and google pay disables itself if I turn my phone lock off (jackasses) anyways I guess I need some kind of hub device now, I just want something to turn on my smart devices on when I say "Hey google, turn on the lights" so would a google home mini be good enough for that?
2) Smart outlets - I just want something I can use directly with the google home/assistant apps and don't have to install a third party app to control.
3) Smart light - I'd like something 100w equivalent or at least 80w preferably that I can control directly with google home. I'd also like it if it could react to my phone or the motion sensor on my smart camera and turn on for a few minutes when I enter the room.
4) Smart security indoor camera - I want something in 1080p with no hub unit (camera only needed to work), nightvision, and free/no subscription online backup of up to a few hours of video for at least a week as well as google integration so I can say things like "Hey google, show me the garage" and have a live feed of my garage on my phone. I would also like to know if there is some way I could perhaps use IFTTT to make it so that when the motion sensor goes off I can set it to turn my smart light on for a few minutes and perhaps play an audio file from my google home mini saying they are being recorded and a copy of the recording has been backed up online and to please leave. Also if possible I would like it to recognize my phone and not react to my presence.

  • 2 months later...

Wifi light switches from Amazon changed my smart home life dramatically. Haveing switches and voice control on all lights and fans is the best thing ever. And no hub just the comcast XfI router with network isolation off so everything smart home is on the 2.4 and all other devices use the 5 ghz. They seem scary but they are very easy to install. Just watch a video on it. And for my color I have led strips, lifex and GE smart bulbs in my lamps. I found one or 2 lifex in a room is plenty my bedroom just has one in a lamp and it's more than enough cause I can just say "turn on fan light as well" so instead of me haveing 2 or 3 bulbs a room I have one and a set of 30$ switches. Buying just bulbs is no longer considered smart home to me...
