Will Mining on my 1080ti ruin or degrade it?

If you keep the voltage and temps low, which is in your best interest anyway for the sake of maximizing profit, it will not hurt the card.  You're more likely to cause damage with gaming than mining (assuming you mine properly), because gaming often involves overclocking, which indirectly means overvolting more often than not, as well as wild temperature swings, which are more dangerous than just maintaining a constant high value (within reason of course).

Hi, I'm looking to mine on my 1080ti basically 24/7 whenever I'm not using it. My electricity is cheap and I guess I might as well. Would this kind of rigorous mining deteriorate the card as its at 100% usage constantly?

 

The GPU temperature is at 70c constantly (I have an open case), but I'm not sure if it even matters as much as the usage.

I am looking to use this card for quite a long time (around 6+ years if possible) and I wouldn't want it to break or slow down anytime soon.

If you keep the voltage and temps low, which is in your best interest anyway for the sake of maximizing profit, it will not hurt the card.  You're more likely to cause damage with gaming than mining (assuming you mine properly), because gaming often involves overclocking, which indirectly means overvolting more often than not, as well as wild temperature swings, which are more dangerous than just maintaining a constant high value (within reason of course).

My card never reaches anything over 72c so I don't think temperature is the problem, and I'll never overclock as it's pretty insane as it is. Great to know I can mine and game safely and keep the card for years on end. Thanks a ton!

Stock settings will last longer than the cards profitability given the difficulty growth. As long as it isn’t Msi garbage, fan wise.

Not really at all, high temps and high voltage can degrade thermal paste and capacitors with time but at near stock settings in a well ventilated case you should have absolutely no issues. And if you were compelled to replace your thermal pads/ paste in a year or two that would not be the worst idea in the world.

I can replace thermal paste and I'm not sure what thermal pads are but I'm confident I can replace it as well, ill remember to do that in a year or two. Thanks!

Plenty of instructional youtube videos to guide you! It isn't that difficult. 

Thermal pads are similar to thermal paste it just comes as a pad and covers a larger surface area.
