I have a Zenfone Max 5.5" with Android Oero, when I want to download PlayStore updates, the updates remain "sarting" and the download won't start, they only start after I lock the phone for a while, while it's locked. The same happens with OneDrive downloads. Restarting the phone usually solves the problem but it always comes back. Any ideas?

Check the settings within the Play Store app and make sure your download preferences are set correctly. Then try clearing your cache of the app itself and sign out and back into it.

There aren't any setings related to the timing of the downloads... everything seems right. I've cleared the PlayStore cache, didn't help...

Settings > Auto-update apps

Settings > App download preference

Just make sure those are set to any network, instead of something like WiFi only. Also try resetting your network settings as well, there's gotta be some kind of glitch preventing the store from communicating with the outside world. Reinstall the store app as well.

  • 5 months later...

After all this time I think i found out where the problem is. It's battery optimization. Some app/service that is used for downloads may not be excluded from batter optimization. I have google carrier services excluded, along with some others, but something important is probably not. What could it be?
