Keep receiving spam text messages from email address

So, I've received several spam messages on my phone the past 2 days. This is different though, they'll send it as a group text to 20 other 'local' numbers from an email address, not a phone number. I may be stupid, but as far as I'm aware, there is no way to block text messages from email addresses on Android/ATT.

 

Has anybody else experienced this lately? It's very, very annoying and there doesn't seem to be any way to stop it...

I have ATT and had to call and after explaining 8 times that these are spam sms messages, not emails they blocked texts coming from email addresses
