htpc Home Theatre PC Advice/Recommendations

Hi Guys & Gals

Been watching LTT for years.... so finally dragged my carcass into the forums to ask for advice from people who are up to speed with the tech...

Been asked by a friend to upgrade his HTPC (Home Theatre PC)

Last time I built anything was about 2017 so am a little out of touch with everything.... says he has around £500 to play with

I can confirm he has a case (Zalman HTPC enclosure - no idea on the name had it since vista days) with 3 HDD bays and a hot-swap and a 650w PSU (EVGA) and a g/c (no idea exactly - does have HDMI as he connects to projector)

He will be re-using the HDD'S (i think SSD and 2 or 3 2tb drives He already has a licence for win 10 x64

Sorry, not much detail ... any help appreciated

What will he be using for this? What's the current specs?

Current spec is old... slow and generally seen better days... his words not mine.....

This is as much info as i have - i know not much about the new tech (used to build systems in 2017) am looking for recommendations on what you guys and gals think could be a ideal spec for him
