I’m considering I’m investing in Optane.

However I’m not sure if the m.2 optane version will fit on my Z390-F motherboard.

I’ve tried to look up compatibility but can’t get a clear answer if it will fit in my M.2 slot because it looks like a B/M key which I think my board only supports M key?

Your board is only M-key, and the Optane module is B+M-key, but it will fit just fine. The diagram below explains this better than I can, but basically the drive being B+M doesn't prevent it from fitting into an M-key slot as there is simply a few pins absent from a B+M key drive. Nothing is added, therefore nothing will block you from being able to insert the drive.  Also, your motherboard's specifications page specifically says that the board is Optane Ready.
