How do you use RGB fans/strips without a RGB header?

Hey people of the Internet I had a question about RGB. I recently built my first PC and since it was my first time I didn't really go into looking at too much detail I just looked at what's the cheapest and will be good for the next 2 to 3 years. It's been 2 weeks since I built it and it's very dark inside the case I want it to have colour specially red but my motherboard doesn't have a rgb header (here is my question) are there any adaptors you can use or do you have to buy a motherboard with a RGB header. And if there are can you please explain how they work and a link to them.

Thanks

there are mainly 2 different types.

ones that just plug into your psu and you'll need a remote to control.

others that plug into your psu and an usb2 connector on your motherboard (you'll need a splitter for the usb hub if thete is no free one on your MB), and that are controlled via software.

for sake of simplicity (as i use it) ill go with corsair for further explenation:

https://www.amazon.de/Corsair-CL-9011109-WW-Lighting-RGB-LED-Beleuchtung-schwarz/dp/B07CY8SHTR/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=corsair%2Blighting%2Bkit&qid=1571330956&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzSDIwUVpDM0g5Rk01JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUExMDE5ODAzMzhQU1pSWlEwWU1INSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDAzNDk4MzVFVjZMSTBOTzhGTCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1

you get for example a corsair commander and a lighting node pro. it needs sata power and a usb 2 connection. to that devices you can connect corsairs led strips, fans and thermal sensors.

everything will be controlled via the corsair icue software.

note that this is a pretty expensive method (no matter the brand, as there are various)

BUT on the cheaper side there are:

led strips that plug in directly via molex (single color):

RGB led strips with a IR reciver and a remote that plug into your psu:

https://www.amazon.de/DeepCool-rgb350-LED-Strip-Streifen-Computer/dp/B00N2QYP50/ref=sr_1_32?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=computer+led+kit&qid=1571331260&sr=8-32

those are all links from the austrian amazon site. hope they work.

I looked into RGB strips and I found molex powerd RGB strips but how about another option for fans because the corsair one is a little too expensive and complicated for me.

Thanks again.

again, hope the link works for you

thats a combination of led strip and fan-led dohicky with a remote.

the company is called Miwatt. there are similar options from companies like EZDIY, UpHere or LTC

there are also fans (single color again) tha have a fan connector and a seperate molex one for led.

Hey man thanks for all your help but I have one last question do LED fan need another header or do they just plug right into the normal fan header I wanna see if UPHERE fans work with my mobo. I know you said that single ones don't need a RGB header but just to be sure can you tell if these will work. I also know that I will have to buy a hub because i wont have enough headers.

no problem ?

as far as i can see your motherboard has only ONE 3pin fanheader so you will need something like this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Cooling-Splitter-Adapter-Controller-Powered/dp/B07BLFQHHF/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=3pin+fan+splitter+6&qid=1571345641&s=electronics&sr=1-3

https://www.amazon.ca/DEEPCOOL-FH-10-Integrated-Occupying-Motherboard/dp/B077YHLDSP/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=3pin+fan+splitter&qid=1571345616&s=electronics&sr=1-3

to drive them all.

just make sure that you DO NOT CONNECT THE 4PIN MOLEX AND THE 3PIN FANHEADER that you will find on the fan!

only use something like i linked you and connect all the 3pins from there

those fansplitters will need eiter a molex or a sata cable to power them. absolutely no issue, you should have a spare of eiter one usually.
