Randomly losing display output whilst playing games

so recently i have upgraded my GPU from a 1070 (Asus OC-edition) to a 2080 SUPER (Asus OC-edition).

but whilst i was playing some graphical games (not the most demanding or anything) i have had multiple times that my display output just stops.

the only way i've found to regain display output is to shut down the pc by cutting the power and rebooting, because it seems to think that windows is still running as normal.

i have already reinstalled all VGA drivers and GPU Tweak II. though there is another odd thing that GPU Tweak has. whenever i minimize the software, it just crashes.

no longer being able to bring up the control panel or anything related to GPU Tweak. so then i have to use task manager to force exit the program, and then start it up again, only to get the control panel up.

this behavior is just weird, and definitely not supposed to happen.

so if anyone might have the slightest clue on how to fix this i'd be very grateful

I wonder if your power supply is keeping up. Also are you overclocking anything?

yes i am overclocking a slight bit, nothing major, but i am sure that my 750W power supply isn't having much trouble, i've got this meter that measures how much Watts are being pulled from the wall, and on that socket i've got my PC and both monitors. and the highest reading that i've ever seen it give is about 500W, which is well below what my PSU is rated for

I might have figured something out.

My power supply was plugged into a power brick, and not straight into a wall socket. So far i've had no issues playing games and just heavy workloads, so i think that the power brick might just have had issues handling that current flow, not all the time, but once in a while it'd fail someway, and cause the issue that my computer was having.

I hope this will remain a permanent fix, and not that it's just not occurring for a while, but anyways
