I would really only like to spend $1,000 on my build right now, but definetly will have the money to upgrade a it a bit soon. Basically, I need a functioning computor (not an underpowered, dying laptop) now, but want something more powerfull soon. I have zero experience with building computors and this will be "my first computor". I've always used 'the household computor' and therefor have never used something that cost over $350. I'm planning on using my rig to play Minecraft and edit videos. Everything is (unfortunetly) theoretical at this point, but for planning porposes to can be assumed that I'm going to record YouTube quality Minecraft videos, edit them, and edit 4K videos profesionally as a business.

I'm sure most of you that will read this have 100+ times more experience than I do in these matters so here are the problems/questions that I have right now:

  1. Can I get a really cheap GPU to use for the time being (I'd just not get one but the Ryzen 3700x dosen't have integrated grafics), then somewhat eaily add a more expensve GPU like the one on my list now? Would that make sense financially? How hard would it be to add/replace a new GPU once I'd already been using my PC for a bit?
  2. Is an 'expensive' ($100+) case worth it? Should I just go with the NZXT H500 ATX Mid Tower Case?
  3. I have no idea how to chose a power supply (other than chosing the correct watage). Help? (wattage breakdown from pcpartpicker (open spoiler))

I don't really like the NZXT H500 personally. I'd rather put it in a Meshify C or P400, but there is very little performance difference except in outlier great cases like the LianLi PC-011, which is $130-150 and it's a bit more aimed at water cooling, but it air cools well.

You're missing a PSU there bud. Getting a well reviewed and well know 650w PSU should serve you well even up to a 2080Ti (although people at that price range generally get a beefier unit). If you want a better GPU I would just wait. Alternatively you could buy a used GPU or take advantage of Amazon's 30 day no questions asked return policy.

You could get a Fractal Design Focus G it's a really decent case for a good price and good airflow.

Your build is really nice for a 1k$ machine however if you want to reduce the price you could get a b450 motherboard (msi tomahawk max or a-pro max are good choices).

You could get a cheaper GPU for the time being (rx 580/590 for example).

Here is a list :

So in the end I just changed the motherboard for a better one, added a good PSU, changed the case and a good GPU still.

1. Yes it makes sence, you can sell it afterwards and it's really easy to change a GPU.

2. It can yes but there are good case for less (the one I added for example).

3. 550w is more than enough for most build.

I'm pretty confident in this list:

I decided on mouse I saw recomended for video editing (Redragon Perdition).

Is getting a $200+ monitor much better getting an under $100 monitor? I want to get at least 2, mabey 3 monitors. I was thinking I would start with a cheaper, lower ressolution one, then get a second 4k one later. Is one monitor reallly better than another in the same price point? The specs all look mostly the same to me.

You can get a 4k IPS for watching movies and edit 4k videos and a 144hz 1080p for gaming and other stuff :)
