So this is my first post here but I really need some help. I've had my personal set up going for about a year now and it's been going perfectly fine until tonight

Specs are:

I5 8600k @5ghz

Galaxy gtx1080

Asus prime z370a motherboard

Samsung Evo 250gb ssd

16gb 2600mhz hyperx ram

Corsair 650w PSU

Wdg 2tb hdd

So it was working fine earlier today but when I walked in my screen was frozen on the motherboards logo. I tried restarting and it got stuck on preparing automatic repairs.

I went through the basic stuff, resetting CMOS, testing each ram stick, removed GPU, etc and still nothing. But when I try loading off of just my SSD, it freezes on the logo or preparing repair. But if I boot just off of my hdd it goes to repairs and then blue screens and starts over. Could it be my SSD that's gone bad? That's the only thing I can think of so far and I can't afford to take it to a specialist at the moment. I can probably afford a cheap ssd to fix the problem but I don't want to do that without being sure first.

Edit:

It's occurred to me that it could be a corrupt windows, I tried changing the data cable and the screen does change but still not able to boot. I can get a USB to try to repair but don't want to make it worse

At this point, you might be best off trying to repair via USB stick if it's getting to that point. It could also be worth it to try underclocking your CPU and seeing if that at least lets you boot if windows repair doesn't work. The only other thing I could think of would be a corrupted BIOS, and that's easy enough to fix on Asus MOBOs since they have flashback on them.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I'm going out to buy a USB to test this. I can still read all the files on the SSD. I don't have a spare pc to test but when I select the ez flash I can go through all the files. So that eliminates a bad SSD. I turned the of off straight away to (forgot to mention earlier).
