Hey guys.

So I recently bought a gtx 1070 sc2 and it seems the previous owner never made the effort to clean it. I'm attempting to do so myself but I find it hard to remove the fan shroud, which is necessary to reach the heatsink. I looked everywhere and tried a bunch of different searches but no luck. If someone can possibly explain to me how this is done or maybe link me to a previous thread, article or video that discusses this topic, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't wanna waste my 1070 when I haven't even put it in my system yet.

I assume you mean the actual fans from the heatsink? Should clip over it but I’ve never messed with one of those specifically. I assume it’s still designed like the acx 3.0 coolers.

I just use compressed air to clean it without taking it apart.

Well, no. I want to remove the shroud since thats how you remove the heatsink. I found that much info on the internet but no one has done a proper teardown of this card. I would use compressed air but I don't have that. Might consider a vacuum cleaner right about now

Well they are one piece at that point. You unscrew it. Prolly still the 4 main screws over the gpu. The rest hold the plate down. But may have screws holding it at the i/o but it shouldn’t. Couldn’t be any easier.

Look up the 1080/to version as it will be the same.

Thank you! I found a lot of articles on the 1080 so I'll just reference those
