Both of my daughters (8 and 5) have their own hand-me-down desktop computers and I'm looking to build something new for them so they can play some newer games together (and with the wife and I).

1. Budget & Location

$300-$400 each

2. Aim

Roblox, Minecraft, FFXIV and various other non-high end games.

3. Monitors

Single monitor each @ 1080p

4. Peripherals

Already have these. Running Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

One PC is running an old AMD 6300FX while the other is an Intel NUC. The 6300 is starting to show its age and I don't think it'll be able to run FFXIV. The NUC won't even run minecraft.

Thanks in advance!

Case and PSU pricing is terrible right now.

You should reuse whatever case you can, and maybe the hard drive. Going to want a case with a mesh front in any event.

Best to spend a little more so you never have to upgrade the CPU or RAM again

Find used RX 470s-RX580s you can get them from $80 to $100 on ebay or offer up on your phone.

How would a 1600 or 3200 compare with this?

If you can find the 1600 for like $40 less I'd take it, but the 2600 has better clock speeds and more importantly a better memory controller for hitting 3200mhz reliably.

I finally have a new job now and can seriously consider purchasing new PCs. Is this list still relevant, or should it be updated? I won't need a hard drive as I have plenty of those laying around.

is your budget still the same or?

Search for ryzen 5 1600AF on amazon. Should be $85 and it's basically a ryzen 2600 with the 1600 memory controller. If you need to save even more, get the gpu used for like $85 as well, that should bring the cost below $400

Yes, still the same budget.

it's more or less the same, but with a smaller SSD now. you can try finding a used card that performs around the same on ebay, save some money for more storage.

Thanks! I've already got some hard drives that I may be able to repurpose so I can save on that there too.
