2700x vs 3700x

So I'm debating a 2700x vs 3700x. There's a $300 difference (mother boards included x570 being more expensive) is the 3700x worth $300 more to go with ??

You don't need an X570 board for a 3700X, there are a bunch of ways to update any motherboard's BIOS with no additional cost to you.

 

It's worth it if you're targeting a result that benefits from the additional performance, what is your goal?

for gaming, the 2700 is great, if you're targeting consistent 144 fps though the 3700X would be a benefit

X470 Prime Pro? That one did terrible in VRM thermal tests. X570-P is the better deal even if you go 2700x

 

but I'd say should spend more for the 3700X, especially since you're on 2080S GPU already

Defiantly 3700x over 2700x, it will benefit from your 2080S much more. If you want to save some money, you might wanna take a B550 or a B450 motherboard over an X570.

If you can swing it the 3700 is the way to go.  Both cpu's will not bottleneck your system so your good.

 

But with the price of the 2700's its a hard sell for the 3700. I mean if you can spend it I would. But you really won't see much value from the money spent. The 2700 for the price is amazing and I seen them for as low as $120 used.

Yeah the 2700X is still a great processor, if you want a system that is still good at gaming yet great at video editing and the like the 2700X holds up pretty well.

It only falls a little behind the 3600 in gaming so its a good catch indeed.

You can put a 3700X in a $120 B450 board and it will preform just as good. No need to spend ridiculous amounts on the MB.
