Melted a hole into my original battery for my Dell Latitude 3340. Yeah, tha happened. I ordered a new one off Ebay with what little money I had left, but that didn't work, like at all. I kind of need to be mobile since i just started career training at Job Corps a few months back, and moneys tiiiiiiiiiiight. I contacted Dell Support and they said to get one from the Dell site, but whoopdeedoo I couldn't find a replacement part for it. My question is: Is there any way I coud somehow get the battery to work? I'm kind of out of options at this point and yall are smart dudes, so I thought I'd ask. Huge thanks to anyone who can help ^^'

Hole in battery = likely dead battery.

Post some pictures so we can see the damage.

I PROBABLY should have taken pictures, in hindsight. Recently had to replace the screen and hard drive as well, but thats a different story all together. I have pics of the LAPTOP but that wont help at all. I'll post a pic of the replacement battery, and show the area where it melted if that helps at all.

Also, it keeps asking me something about a service tag ever since i installed the new battery :/

Uhm, yasee, I can't do that. I threw the original battery away, and I can't/dont want to open it because 1) its basically sealed shut, and 2) i dont want to do any damage to it. I don't really know that much about replacing cells or anything either :/ I am of zero help to this problem right now :( Also, when I looked at the battery after it melted, the cells werent the issue. The laptop has these metal strips where it touches the barrery and they get really hot, so they melted through the casing, and the sorta chip thingy (dunno what it is) on the inside got scorched and started melting as well.
