PC Noob wanting to Upgrade Old Workstation

From the PDF I downloaded of the 1060 I want, it said 400w or greater but that recommended Wattage was with an i7 in the build along side the GPU. So I believe 500 will do just fine, just want to get a second opinion ya know?
Easily. GPU makers always over-quote, for all they know you could be running some super hungry CPU and 35 10K rpm HDDs, so they massively over-quote. Even my OCed X58 rig with a 1080 Ti barely pulled more than 550W, 500W is fine for the 1060. 550-600W runs pretty much any reasonable CPU/single GPU combo out there right now, only 1st gen Vega cards (AFAIK) can have issues with some PSUs at that wattage, due to really high spikes (for like less than a ms or something they can hop up to 600W, trips the protections on some PSUs and shuts down the rigs).
