Fairly new here and was just wondering weather this would be a sufficient PC.

maybe also get a low 256GB SSD will make a massive addition to the build.

also you can lower the wattage of the PSU so something closer to 650w. as with a cooler master hyper 212 you  wont be doing much in the way of overclocking.

rest is fine

also case?

peripherals?

Win10?

  1. The case is at the top peripherals i will use what i have and then upgrade after a while and i have a windows 10 pro code so i will use that.
  2. Do you mean it won't be able to overclock with that cpu cooler

Thanks otherwise.

It will be able to overclock, but you shouldn't be pushing it too hard (too much voltage) because your temps are important to keep safe. That cooler isn't gonna be doing any crazy cooling :)

so could i replace the cost of the decrease incost of the psu with the increase in cost of the cpu cooler

Okay, that's fine, is this gonna be a gaming rig only? Or are you looking to live stream at the same time? Live stream intensive games? Do video editing too?

Probably gaming mainly but I have livestreamed before so once i have upgraded my peripherals I would look to livestream on it but for video editing I have a mac with final cut pro.

What is the computer being used for? Is it just gaming? Live streaming, editing, anything like that?

Personally I wouldn't go for Intel right now, Ryzen is just the much better price to performance platform. Also an SSD is a necessary component for any computer these days. Here is what I would build if I were looking to get a system right now. Going with Ryzen you get a better much more capable CPU and even have enough budget left over to go for a 2070 Super and still come in under what you'd pay for an i7 intel build.

Main Desktop: CPU - i9-14900k | Mobo - Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | GPU - Sapphire AMD RX 7900XTX Nitro+ 24GB RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB 6400mhz | AIO - Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm | PSU - Corsair RM1000X | Case - Hyte Y40 - White | Storage - Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Nvme /  Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 4TB Nvme / Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB Nvme / Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD / Samsung 870 QVO 2TB SSD/ Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD|

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 13th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 3200mhz | Storage - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB Nvme |

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S24+ - Ceramic White 512GB |

If it's a gaming-only system I'd recommend saving some money and going for an I5. However, if you want to be prepared to stream in the future, then you should stick with an I7. That would just free up more budget for a better cooler. Full disclosure, I'm not very confident in suggesting which cooler to go for - so I'll @Acid Panda for info there, is it liquid cooling or air cooling you're looking for? I'm going to assume air. The build that Spooky Citrus put together is a pretty solid system for what you're after, an SSD is one of the things you don't appreciate til you have, but the boot times into windows are to die for :P

ITs going to be air as I am not confident enough to do a water cooling pc considering it will be my first build. Also do you agree with spooky that i should go for AMD. Just always had intel PC's and have been told about people not patically liking the CPU's from them for some reason or another. Also I have looked at the psu and found one thats 550w. That should be ok from what spooky said. Finally just need i will look into getting the ssd that spooky sergested.

In the past few years, AMD has stepped up their game and become some serious competitors to Intel for mid-range and even higher-end stuff. If you want a cheaper SSD that can just be used as a small boot drive for windows and some programs then https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/xMqhP6/kingston-a400-240-gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-sa400m8240g Is what I'll be putting into a build in the coming future. That's relatively cheap. I would advise either posting which PSU you found or checking it against the PSU Tier List that some helpful members of the community put together under the 'Cases and Power Supplies' thread.

so should I consider changing to a AMD one.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/dDH48d/corsair-txm-gold-550w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020133-na I think that'll be a better PSU - in terms of quality and reputation, it's only a little bit more money. Personally, I think the PSU is the ultimate component that has to be quality-controlled because if it fails, it can put the rest of your system (even your house in worst-cases) in jeopardy.

An AMD system is definitely worth taking into consideration. If you want, make a 'New builds and planning' thread and ask the people there for an AMD system for gaming and possible streaming under £1200, they'll be able to give you a bunch of ideas. And this is between us, but I sometimes make multiple threads on their over the course of a couple days to get different people's ideas ;)

To be honest, I will do that but I think I am happy with what i have got because I was coming into this planning to get a 9700K with a 1660 ti and have upgraded that massively just for about an extra 100 quid.

just need to find the cpu cooling system.

what do you think about the idea of this.

I haven't had a Noctua CPU cooler, however, I hear very good things about the fans in general - should be excellent, however, if you're wanting to save a little bit - I can speak highly of the Dark Rock Pro 3. The 4th generation, https://www.amazon.co.uk/QUIET-Dark-Silent-Wings-Cooler/dp/B07BY6F8D9 , is said to be a much easier installation (Cause the 3rd was horrific) So I'll suggest the Dark Rock Pro 4 // Or // Dark Rock 4 -- either one works, be wary of these massive CPU coolers though, they put a lot of force on the motherboard and if the PC case is dropped or roughly shaken (or just badly installed), the cooler can rip straight out the mobo. Although, I had my DRP3 for a while and never saw anything like it, just sagged a little which is understandable.

The build I listed has a better CPU, a better GPU, faster memory, plus an NVME SSD and mass storage drive for cheaper than what you'd pay for the Intel build. The 9700K is a waste of money. The Z390 platform has a limited upgrade path(Highest you can go is 9900k). It has no hyperthreading, plus it's completely overpriced. You get a better computer for cheaper if you go AMD.
