I'm looking for assistance on building a computer for my car to go in the double DIN slot for my radio. I'm having difficulty finding chasis. I would suspect I would need a low powered CPU, maybe an Intel Atom? I also would like a CD drive and a touch screen, so I can have a radio. Any help selecting a cpu, screen, and chasis would be great. also would like to hook up a few cameras to help going.in reverse

Assuming you have a 2006 or earlier car or a cheapo recent one go right ahead. Otherwise anything like GMC, Kia, Ford, VW, or any other non-budget brand probably has the Radio hooked up through CANBUS that can cause anything from Check Engine Light to complete features of the car not working. What car do you drive?

You realize purpose-built double DIN head units already do this, more reliably, with better compatibility, and no jank? CD drive would be the only thing they might not have, I think it's usually either CD drive or touchscreen, may be one with both though.

I have a 2005 Camry.

You should definitely be fine then.

To start off, I'd go with a Metra Single/Double radio housing. This allows you to have a mount point for both your PC (rPi (recommended) or other) as well as the CD drive.

From there you'll needed the radio harness adapter to easily identify and wire up your PC.

Additionally, you'll need a 12v -> 5v buck converter to convert the 12v car power to 5v USB power for any USB powered device

Why you need a computer on your dash?

There are already android double din units out there with build in radio, rear view, TV and even CD player.

Android already have a huge app library. Using a PC would be consuming too much power.
