Coil Whine in games but not on Aida64 ?? [HELP]

Hi!
Im getting a weird noise (probably coil whine) when im playing games.
It's weird because if i use Aida64 to stress my PC there's no noise. I tried stressing my GPU only, nothing, then i tried stressing everything (CPU, GPU, Disk etc) and still no noise!
It doesn't make any sense. Why do i get this noise only when im playing but if i use a stress software nothing happens ? I was monitoring my GPU while playing Battlefield 1 and on Aida64, i have high frequencies and usage on both, so i don't see what's going on...

Could someone help me ? I also have this video so you guys can hear it, thanks !

Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT
Asus X570 TUF Gaming Plus

It can depend on how much the GPU is stressed and also which parts. My GPU has no coil whine, unless I run older benchmarks that run at 1000+ fps. Then its really audible.

Firstly , coil whine isn't a problem , so don't worry about it.

Second , One reason (least with analog signals) is that a gpu being mathmatically stressed vs a gpu actually sending frames out to a monitor will have different interferences that could occur between the monitor and machine. So a simple stress test that isn't the exact same game or program can produce different conditions.

Your only real issue (which we can't solve) is more along the lines of how quiet your house is vs how loud the coils in the machine are.

Coil Whine is often FPS related. More FPS=More Coil Whine.

yeah makes sense, if i run 3DMark i hear the noise. But i don't get high fps on Battlefield1...

Thanks for your help. But how can i be sure it's coil whine ? Could be anything else. The noise is a bit annoying but i can live with that, Im just worried it can damage my PC

Nothing you can do about it. But it isnt harming your Card if thats your concern.

But why some GPUs have it and others don't ? There's people who have the same GPU as me (5700 xt) and they ended up returning it, they said AMD gave them a new one.

Not much else in the pc makes a perfect noise like that on command.

 

one way to toggle the noise on and off just to make sure would be to play a game then set the resolution incredibly low during the game to see if the noise changes under identical conditions with the only variant being the resolution thus the load on the gpu.

becuase some peoples computers are closer to their heads and some people have overly quiet houses and noise standards.

again its more a human problem and less of a computer problem.

Totally unrelated but people sometimes complain about how loud a fuel pump can be in a car , which i'm willing to bet you've probably never ever heard becuase you're just a different person than those people. lol

i see, thanks. But i just used FurMark to test the GPU and still no noise!! High fps (139 avg) and still no noise! I don't get it

are you playing furmark as a video game?

or are you playing a totally different game which is programmed entirely different from furmark?

2 different conditions yeilds 2 different results , interesting

Especially considering that a car isn't exactly a quiet environment to begin with

yeah i think, it's on fullscreen and i can see the fps so.. Idk man. GPU it's on full load, high frequencies just like when im playing.

The interesting part is around 1:50, you can hear the whine changes pitch depending on what's on the screen.

yes. a slightly different coil , slightly different manufacturing process , one part sat on a shelf longer than another , one parts solder is slightly different at a chemical level... ect....

Oh sorry, didn't noticed that part. Yeah it's different conditions, obviously. Im just trying to simulate it with these softwares, but i guess i will never have the same result (?)

It's not just how much load the GPU has, but also which parts of it are under load. So yes, it really depends on the software and how it's using the GPU.

dont need to change software for that

run the game , open the door and listen to the componenets with your ear and located it , if it's around the psu or gpu , then it'll just be coil whine

i already did! I even placed my hand on the GPU and i honestly didn't heard or felt any vibration. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the GPU, honestly.
