So I wanted to ask this specifically because it is common to have power outages where I live and since I know that having that happen could brick the mobo, how recommended is it to update the bios on my brand new board? Should I go out looking for a UPS or should I skip that and game on without worries?

Also does qflash plus feature on the gigabyte boards help in unbricking the board should that happen?

Thanks!

if theres nothing wrong with the machine then leave the bios alone

Actually right now a lot of Ryzen x570/3000 series BIOS updates are bringing performance improvements so it's a good idea. The latest AGESA update 1.0.0.3 ABBA (or something like that) fixes some boosting issues with the CPU and lets them turbo correctly which I would say is a big reason to update to that BIOS alone.

How much of a performance boost are we talking about here? I mean will it be noticeable during gaming at all? If not that I'd rather not do it.

Hard to say off hand since I don't have the numbers in-front of me right now but check Gamers Nexus' videos on that as I'm pretty sure they did a before/after comparison and it was pretty decent. A few FPS, give or take, depending on the title.

As for qflash, that should restore a bricked BIOS but let me double check that.

I would probably ever few months, especially with a new platform to get the most out of it. Like this latest update, fixed an issue with PBO not working correctly for most users and causing your CPUs to not boost properly.

Yah, I'm pretty sure based on what I found that q flash will fix a corrupted BIOS since it's a ROM utility it can't be hurt itself in the process. What model motherboard do you have as well? I saw a lot of topics about Gigabyte having dual BIOS support so even if the main BIOS is corrupted you can recover with the secondary BIOS and be back up pretty quickly.

Oh I have the ultradurable one. So I'm pretty sure it won't have dual bios since it's like bottom tier in their lineup. I decided to go for that because I had ordered an asrock b450m steel legend which was DOA and I had to get a refund. Where I live, ryzen is not popular at all so it was very hard for me to find places where I could flash other b450m boards for the compatibility.

Ah, yah, doesn't appear to have dual BIOS on that board but q flash should restore a borked BIOS update without issue.

I have the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro and each bios update so far has brought better stability (especially ram stability), more reasonable voltages, higher turbo speeds and slightly improved performance (from 4900 points to 5020 points in Cinebench R20) also 1% and 0.1% lows appear to be improved too.

What do you mean by stability? And 1 percent performance is ok to lose put on imo.

My ram was struggling to run at X.M.P settings on the earlier bios'. Kept having audio hangs and screen freezes which disappeared when X.M.P was turned off. The latest bios fixed this for me.
