Need help picking monitor

Hello,

I am looking for a new monitor 24inch 1080p 144hz my budget is around 250€(275$) i can spend more but only if it makes a big difference. Also I am looking for a monitor that isnt too 'gamery'.Also I couldnt really decide which panel type, I was thinking TN because I am going to be gaming(csgo,r6,rocket league) but if IPS is also good let me know.

Thank you!

Just pick any of the free-sync displays and check reviews, shouldn't be more than 200EUR

Maybe look for 240hz displays too and try to find a good deal on one around 300EUR

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I'm currently using the AOC G2590PX, it cost me about 230 euro half a year ago and has a fully adjustable stand (mostly metal and high quality), 24.5", 1ms respomse, 144Hz, and is fully g-sync compatible. The only downside to it is that the colours are not super accurate but actually still better than most of the gaming monitors at this price point.

I use medium override and never experienced any ghosting, it's really difficult to find something to complain about with this monitor

please avoid TN panel ... I have 2... I know what is like to live with them :(
after 1 year with them, I'm in the market for a VN panel now ...

movies are terrible! games you don't feel it that bad, but when you're in the menus or something "still" ... ohh boy :(

I know I own a TN panel right now.But for FPS games I think the better response times would benefit me.I am afraid IPS will have too much ghosting thats why I am going for TN.

I assume you meant VA?I think IPS is better than VA.

It really depends on what you need it for. FPS games will definitely be better on a tn panes as colours are not important there. In order to get an IPS that's as fast and responsive as a medium range TN you'd be looking to spend around twice as much. I do also have a 1440p ips panel but it doesn't even compare in gaming and honestly the worse colours are not very noticable in fast paced games

@Z4NE

In terms of image quality overall.

VA : IPS : TN

IPS until recently was the go to panel for accuracy and professional work, and in many cases it still is, however for normal consumer use, including consumer professionals, some top of the line VA panels can match IPS panels of the same or similar cost.

For pure gaming TN is still king, but they are also still king of trash tier image quality, especially when it comes to contrast and black uniformity.

If u want the best possible edge in gaming from a display, u go with TN.

If u care about picture quality for content consumption including non competitive gaming. Go with VA.

If u need color accuracy and/or viewing angles, go IPS.

For best resource i know of for comparing the 'real' performance of displays (not just what the manufacturer specs say) that have been reviewed, check out the link below.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/table/8163

Be sure to understand the scoring method. A high picture quality score doesnt always mean what u think, as 20% of the score for monitors comes from viewing angle results. As such IPS will score higher than both VA and TN in that respect. its best to adjust the table to show individual results and make a chocie based on that ratehr than the overall 'picture quality' score, or even 'gaming' score.

I don't think any IPS 144hz 1080p displays exist.

VA is basically the same thing though, but with better black levels.
