Gigabyte Z77X motherboard question

I have a Gigabyte Z77X-D3H motherboard with a 3700 in it. Currently if has a 16GB of DDR3 ram. I am planning on using this as the base for a NAS setup. I know that the motherboard will take up to 32GB's of ram. Problem I am having is that I need to know which kind of RAM to buy for it in terms of getting to that 32GBs. I plan on running FreeNas on it as the OS. I have checked on the official support page but have had no luck find anything official from Gigabyte in terms of the numbers provided on ebay. Crucial has some memory that they claim will work. with the lower number being CT102464BD160B for a 8GB stick of 1600mhz. Does anyone know if this would work in terms of compatibility or have any other brands or numbers that I could look up in terms of 8GB module or if this will work should I update the BIOS first before buying any memory for the purpose of using it as a NAS?

all DDR3 non-ECC non-REG sticks will work, but I dont think 16GB sticks will work. They do on Haswell, maybe not Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge

I'm just looking to get at least 4 sticks of 8GB RAM for this motherboard but the problem is that I don't know what exactly is compatible with the motherboard for 8GB RAM sticks.

As I said, non ECC and non REG. RDIMM btw means REG, and you can't use AMD only sticks either.

 

There's no specific brand to look for.
