Complete noob here. im looking for a new monitor for gaming and wanting a 3440 that's at 120hz or higher but I'm not sure what to do. I see a few out there but they seem to have caveats or "only 120hz if you set it up this way".

My question: is there a solid, plug and play 3440x1440 120hz+ monitor out there?

I'm running an rtx 2080 on a newish pc so that end shouldn't be an issue i hope

A lot of the monitors use the same base panel and you have to manually overclock it to 120hz as they can't guarantee it will hit 120hz, but it will very likely hit it just fine.

You can also just use free-sync now as well. This one's $400

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Thank you but that one is only advertising "100Hz Maximum native refresh rate"

You just open up the GPU driver software or go into windows and overclock it to 120hz, most monitors will hit 120hz, otherwise you end up spending a lot more just for 20hz kind of.

Same idea as here.

If you're willing to spend $1000 or more I'd just get one of the 4k 120hz displays.
