PXE-E61 Media Test Failure, check cable error

eepotee

Hello. I have a really old laptop that used to have windows xp on it. At some point, we replaced the hard drive. While trying to get it to run Windows 8.1, I formatted the disk, and now it has no operating system (the windows 8.1 installation was unsuccessful). These are my specs: Toshiba SATELLITE M55-S135, a Windows XP Home Edition x86 laptop. Now, I am trying to make use of it and get at least an operating system on it. But every time I go to boot off of a bootable dvd or USB, This is what keeps popping up, over and over. Help?

You sure you're booting to the usb stick? Seems like it keeps trying to boot to the network.

Check boot order in bios.

In the bios, there is no option to network boot. Options are to boot to CD/DVD, HDD, FDD, or LAN

Never mind, figured it out. There was an option titled "Built in LAN". Disabled that, and it worked.
