I have recently bought a 9900k along with a Coolermaster ML360R liquid cooler. But the issue is, I haven't given much thought about the motherboard and bought a Asrock Z390 pro4 ATX. So now I'm thinking if this would even handle the temperature of 9900k as the VRM in this board seems not that impressive. I know I should've thought about it earlier.

I do not intend to overclock. At least definitely not with this motherboard, but will it safely run the cpu at stock or the turbo setting?

Its a Z390 board, it鈥檒l handle a 9900K by design.

It'll run, but the chipset does not decide abilities, only compatibility.

Yeah it鈥檒l run the 9900K fine and handle a lot of overclocking.

It will not handle a聽lot of overclocking, I mean look at the thing, there's not even an SOC VRM heat sink.聽

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black聽(with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux聽- Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?聽ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained,聽group reg is bad

If you鈥檙e that concerned, swap the cooler for a dark rock TF or other massive downdraft cooler to keep the board cool.

Handel yes, but dont OC to much! That VRM is to Intels minimum specs. Works but dont push it

A bit of airflow would be nice!

Wellcome!

Do you have some sort of airflow over it?

Hi there, I am using a Coolermaster Mastercase h500p mesh. I haven't installed the cpu and the cooler yet. Should I install the radiator above? I have never installed a cooler like this before so its new to me.

yep good idea and make it blowing out. So you create a LITTLE bit of suction above the VRM. I mean you can try to oc but this will SHORTEN the lifespan.聽

adequate VRMs will still handle a lot.

And they're not adequate on this board. A stock 9900K will have VRM temps above 100C, any overclocking will run them in the danger zone, and buying a dedicated fan will not guarantee safe temps, a downdraft cooler certainly won't.

THIS!

Running stock: OK
Undervolting: nice

But actually you got a big CLC... so sell the MOBO and get a decent one ;) and then push that baby

So do you guys think I can use this mobo safely for longer period? or should I run it for now and change later for better mobo?

And if I don't overclock now, will this board take the pressure of the cpu going turbo or should I disable it?

What is the i9 for? If you're doing mostly gaming, an i7 8700k would be fine probably

well i already bought the 9900k, for gaming actually. thought this would be better than the 8700k. oh well.

It is, but a Ryzen R7 3700 is only like 5% behind and better in everything else + cheaper :Palso mobs are cheaper. Maybe sell i9 and mobo and get different platform聽

Or simply get a better Bord for the i9, like I suggested earlier

By like 2%

Really you wouldn't notice the difference. like @Metallus97 said, if you're swapping up the motherboard you should already be in a good position to just buy a ryzen CPU which is cheaper for the same thing honestly. Surrending a boatload of money just to

o work with the i9, you'd have to really love the thing.
