Thoughts on a macropad design?

I've got some spare parts that I'm thinking of slapping together for a macropad

 

• 10 Kailh Box Jades
• Toggle Switch
• Alps absolute rotary encoder
• WS212B LED ring (8 SMD LEDs
• 2  RGB LEDs

I'd like some opinions on the design

Looks ok. What is it's intended use? That to me would guide it's design.

I'm not even sure to be honest, more buttons and a rotary encoder to supplement my 96 keyboard.

Maybe multiple application specific hotkeys, chosen by the encoder and indicated by LED color?

That's actually an interesting point, the encoder is super tactile and stiff (no knob certainly doesn't help), my original plan was similar to a volume knob but it could be too stiff and non-granular for that. It moves in 6deg increments.
