Would RDR2 be playable in an I5 2300 and a GTX 1070?

Whelp, I am in the process of upgrading my PC and probably won't finish it until a few months after RDR2 Releases.

Is the 2300 so much under the 2500K Stated in the minimum requirements? Or is it just a small difference?

Nah, it is a real 4c/4t cpu, so it should perform similar to the 2500k.

I believe you will not be able to achieve 60fps regardless of graphical settings on an i5 2300, even with the i5 2500K that's gonna be a tough thing to achieve specially with RDR2 being a very multi-threaded game from the looks of it.

 

So might still be playable if you consider 30fps-ish playable and have absolutely nothing running on background/sideground while playing.

 

You should really reconsider your build, a GTX 1070 is too much for an i5 2300 for today's games.

It should still work, we know with the 2500k being in the minimum requirements that the game will at least support 2nd gen intel CPUs but I would recommend upgrading from that 2nd gen intel CPU to something a bit more modern like a Ryzen 5 2600 if you're on a budget, and do it asap. The minimum requirements are for 720p 30fps on low/medium settings, you can expect about that as your i5 2300 will produce a hefty bottleneck on your 1070, it's a very unbalanced rig.

Not to mention the 2500k is around 20/30% faster at stock than the 2300.
